Here’s my simple fit routine: • Loosen everything first (shoulders, sternum strap, hip belt) • Put the hip belt on first and tighten it so it sits on your hip bones • Tighten shoulder straps just enough to remove slack (not to carry all the weight) • Adjust load lifters (if the pack has them) so the top of the pack isn’t pulling you backward • Clip the sternum strap comfortably (it should stabilize, not squeeze) If the shoulder straps dig in even with a snug hip belt, the torso length might be off
